Children who live in Timberville attend Plains Elementary School, J. Frank Hillyard Middle School, and Broadway High School. These three schools are located in northern Rockingham County, off of Interstate 81.
Believe it or not, this growing town of Timberville, VA started out as two forts in the 1700’s. One of those forts was located in close proximity to where Simmers’ Garage now stands, and the other fort was located near Otto Zigler’s now torn down home on the banks of the Shenandoah River. In addition to 2,500 residents, Timberville is home to a variety of stores and restaurants including, but not limited to, JJ Soft Serve, Tina’s Family Restaurant, Godfather’s Pizza, Family Dollar, and Food Lion. There are rumors that Timberville, VA will be getting a Walmart and a satellite branch of local hospital; however, as of the summer of 2014, those rumors cannot be confirmed.
