Bridgewater, Virginia—formerly known as Dinkletown—is located in the Southern part of Rockingham County off of Route 42. It’s a place where 5,700+ Shenandoah Valley citizens have chosen to plant their roots, and a place where many students have chosen to further their education.
Bridgewater College, a private-coed school, is located (you guessed it) in Bridgewater, Virginia, and their mascot is The Eagles. Associated with the Church of the Brethren, Bridgewater College is a small school with a big focus on education. They have a student-to-teacher ratio of only 15:1.
Having the Appalachian Mountains of the George Washington National Forest close by is a great nature outlet for hardworking students and the outdoorsy residents of Bridgewater. In the forest, adventurers will find a plethora of mountain biking, hiking, and even rock climbing.
For any of those aquaphiles out there, Bridgewater is a great place for you too. The North River runs southeast through the town, and connects with the South River in Port Republic. Opportunities for water sports in Bridgewater include kayaking, canoeing, rafting, and boating as well as fishing. The town is called Bridge-water, after all, and there’s no question as to why!
