Hank’s Southern Cuisine and Barbeque in McGaheysville, VA
Best BBQ hands down! Great for date night, sit down dinner with VA wines, or just grabbing a BBQ sandwich and iced tea with friends.
Clementine Cafe in Harrisonburg, VA
The sister restaurant of Hank’s. Music, Art and Food. The trifecta with a bonus of a great beer selection. Daily specials usually include locally sourced foods.
The Depot Grille in Staunton, VA
Easy family atmosphere where kids can draw on the brown paper covered tables. Or, for a different feel, sit at the Victorian bar and share a pint with folks from near and far. Great menu to please ever palate, from Bison burgers to seafood.
Local Chop and Grill House in Harrisonburg, VA
Great service and a great menu with many farm-to-table options. Honestly, everything I’ve had there has been great. I love the scallops especially. It’s my go-to place for celebrations with clients and new-comers to the area.
Little Grill Collective in Harrisonburg, VA
I love the fact that it’s a dive, and you walk in feeling nervous about what you may have gotten into. All of the food is real, either from their farm or another local farm. Nothing is processed, nothing is preserved. Just real food at real great prices. I also love that they only take cash or check. Try the ham-and-cheese omelet with grits and hashbrowns. You won’t be disappointed.
The Mill Street Grill in Staunton, VA
The building and architecture, and atmosphere, of eating in a former mill is fantastic. I don’t have a specific favorite at the Mill Street instead I have tried a variety of items on the menu, and they’ve all been good. Generally, the Mill Street Grill is a place we go for special occasions.
Xenia Kebab Grille in Harrisonburg, VA
I love the Mediterranean flavors of this food! Homemade pitas, fresh ingredients and a varied menu make this my go-to place for lunch. I usually order the Ultimate Veggie sandwich but sometimes I branch out and order a full plate of chicken shish kebabs and basmati rice, topped with veggies and a slightly spicy sauce. Save room for their homemade baklava, too! If you go, arrive before or after the lunch hour – it’s small and is often full!
Tacos El Primo in Harrisonburg, VA
Tacos El Primo is the best (especially when the owner lady makes the food) because it’s cheap, but not in quality; fast, but not too fast; filling, more than Chipotle. I get a spicy pork burrito every time with both the red hot sauce and the green sauce, hold the sour cream. My wife loves their tacos with all the fixings. This is one place for which we both get excited!
